Are you a self-proclaimed anime fanatic? Do you find yourself constantly on the hunt for the next figurine or rubber straps to add to your collection? Well, you're not alone! Anime collecting has become a popular hobby for many enthusiasts, and for good reason. Let's dive into the world of collecting anime and why it's a quirky and fun pastime.
Why Collect Anime Merchandise?
-
Personal Expression: Collecting allows you to showcase your favorite shows and characters in a way that reflects your personality. Whether it’s through figurines, tapestries, keychains, ita bags or other goods, your collection tells a story.
-
Community Connection: Being part of the anime community means connecting with fellow fans. Sharing your collection online or at conventions can lead to friendships and valuable insights on where to find rare items.
-
Nostalgia and Sentiment: Every piece in your collection has a story. It might remind you of a particular episode, a favorite character arc, or a special moment in your life.
Tips for Starting Your Collection
-
Focus on Your Favorites: Start with items from series you love. Whether it's new seasonal anime, ongoing fan favorites, or classic films, let your favorites guide your collection.
-
Set a Budget: Collecting can get pricey! Set a budget to help you manage your spending while still allowing room for that special item.
-
Explore Different Types of Merchandise: From figures and plushies to keychains and acrylic stands, the variety is endless. Don’t limit yourself to just one type; diversify your collection!
I've been a collector since ~2015 or so and I watched my collection go from 1 prize figure and a few keychains & badges to having multiple scales, more keychains and badges than I can hold, and more! It took time and effort (and my paychecks) but I built my collection piece by piece. Getting into new anime and games can be horrifying, knowing I'll want to collect more!
At the end of the day, anime collecting is all about embracing your inner nerd and crow-like tendencies (I mean, who doesn't love shinies). Whether you're a seasoned collector or just starting out, there's something undeniably fun about the thrill of the hunt and the joy of adding a new piece to your collection. So, go forth, fellow anime enthusiast, and may your shelves be filled with all the anime goodies your heart desires!
